Counterfeit honey can be dangerous to health, according to professional organizations
Unknown origin fake honey can be a risk to health, according to the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) and the National Hungarian Association of Beekeepers (OMME), so they propose to introduce a monitoring system for the European Union.
In its announcement published on Wednesday, the NAK suggests the manufacturers to indicate exactly where the honey was packaged, as under the current directive, it is sufficient to indicate only whether the product originates from an EU Member State or a country outside the EU. Additionally, honey should be identified and classified according to plant origin – they added. (MTI)
