HUN-REN and the University of Singapore organize a conference on healthy living
The HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network and the National University of Singapore (NUS) will jointly organize the Healthy Living 2025 Symposium in Budapest from September 17-19. At the three-day event, researchers, experts and decision-makers will present the latest research results, innovations and practical solutions that help increase the number of active, healthy years.
The event is co-organized by the National University of Singapore (NUS), which is at the forefront of the world in the fields of public health, preventive medicine and aging research. The common goal of HUN-REN and NUS is to make Hungary a regional scientific center in the research of healthy living and longevity – HUN-REN said in a statement on Thursday.
At the symposium, more than 30 Hungarian and international speakers will exchange views on topics such as slowing down the biological processes of aging, the application of artificial intelligence in medicine, the role of biobanks and large-scale studies in disease prevention, and the implementation of aging research results into practice through lifestyle and digital health solutions.
The announcement quotes Balázs Gulyás, President of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network, as saying:
“The future of health preservation lies not only in the treatment of diseases, but much more in their prediction and prevention. If we are able to foresee risks, consciously protect ourselves, and prevent diseases in time, then not only a longer but also a healthier life awaits us. The approach based on prediction, protection, and prevention, i.e. the ‘three P’ strategy, is already part of healthcare practice in several Asian countries, such as Singapore, Japan, and Taiwan.”
Prediction, or forecasting, allows risk factors to be assessed by examining genetic predispositions and analyzing lifestyle characteristics.
