Flour and cooking oil on top of the price wave
Consumer prices rose by 0.4 per cent in December 2007, while prices were up by 7.4 per cent compared to the same month in 2006. Inflation had slowed down during the first three quarters of the year and accelerated again in October as a result of an increase in the price of fuel and food. According to a KSH report, the prices of flour and cooking oil showed the largest increase with 56.4 and 40 per cent respectively. The prices of tobacco products and alcoholic drinks practically stagnated. Food prices were up by 0.8 per cent in December 2007 compared to the preceding month.
