The April cooling caused havoc in the orchards
Due to the past few weeks’ morning cool downs a massive damage have occurred in the orchards. Mostly strawberries have suffered in the frost. The bad weather at the end of April caused a 30 percent yield loss on average.
It seemed that this year's flowering will be a record harvest if the weather would have remained good in the end of April. Last week, the cold only struck the apple gardens in Szabolcs county, but this week -3.5 degrees was measured at dawn in Transdanubia and Central Hungary as well. (Origo)
