The Americans waste 40 percent of the food
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced a program for the suppression of food wastage, because in the United States 40 percent of the produced food goes to waste.
According to the ministry, a daily 1400 calories per person and an annual 400 USD is wasted, that means 31 million tons of food is delivered to landfills each year. The rate of wastage increased by 50 percent in the United States since the seventies. (Pogár Demeter, MTI)
