Amazon closes online store in China
Amazon.com Inc has announced that it will close its China online store by 18 July 2019, as the US e-commerce giant concentrates on the lucrative businesses of selling overseas goods and cloud services in the world’s most populous nation. The move underscores how Chinese e-commerce rivals have made it difficult for Amazon’s marketplace to set its feet in China. Alibaba’s Tmall marketplace and JD.com controlled 82 percent of the Chinese e-commerce market last year.
