Agroloop’s 13,000 square meter automated factory is a milestone in the insect protein manufacturing industry
European protein exposure is an increasingly pressing problem in the agricultural sector: a quarter of the world’s meat production is used to feed livestock, while 75 percent of global arable crop production is for animal feed.
Agroloop offers an environmentally friendly alternative to this: it uses feed-grade by-products from local food processors to feed larvae, which convert low-value biomass into high-quality feed protein and fat. The process, which follows a circular economic model, has a significantly smaller ecological footprint than traditional animal feed raw material production.
Agroloop has raised several million euros in capital, which it used to launch its black soldier fly larval breeding and processing activities at the Aerozone Park in Üllő. After lengthy preparations, the feed protein manufacturing company is opening its 13,000 square meter automated plant, which opens new horizons in the development of the domestic agricultural and food economy. Agroloop aims to become a leading player in the market of sustainable, premium quality feed ingredients and soil conditioners within a few years, while introducing industrial-scale insect farming in the Central and Eastern European region.
