Agricultural and rural development subsidies exceeded 1,250 billion forints in 2024
A total of 1,256.4 billion forints was paid out for agricultural and rural development subsidies in 2024. 62.0 percent of the disbursed subsidy amount (778.6 billion forints) came from European Union funds, 38.0 percent (477.8 billion forints) was paid out from the domestic budget.

Among agricultural and rural development subsidies, payments for rural development and fisheries programs and direct subsidies dominated (46.6 and 43.3 percent), amounting to 586.0 billion and 544.6 billion forints. National subsidies accounted for 7.8 percent of the payments, with 97.7 billion forints paid out by 31 December 2024. A total of 28.2 billion forints were disbursed for market and other subsidies. Examining the support of individual sectors, it can be said that arable crop growers received 36.5 percent of the subsidies, livestock farmers were able to use 17.3 percent of the subsidies, and the share of horticulture was only 4.1 percent. Within the framework of the national agricultural damage mitigation system (pillar I), 2.9 billion forints were disbursed to eligible producers in 2024 to compensate for the damages caused by the weather in 2023.
