Good performance – with prices forced down
In the metal packaging market steel cans have the biggest, 70-percent market share. Aluminium solutions – including aerosol cans – represent only 10 percent of the market but they play an important role in export. Pikopack is one the biggest Hungarian metal packaging manufacturers. Commercial director Katalin Berényi told that their most important customers are foreign private label product manufacturers, who are very price-sensitive. The main innovation direction is cutting raw material use and this requires new production technologies. Ms Berényi informed us that after the stagnation in recession years Pikopack would finally realise growth in aerosol volume sales in 2014 – aerosol demand started increasing in Europe in 2013. She added that consumer opinion on metal packaging is positive because it is recyclable.
