The National Chamber of Agriculture, the Association of Hungarian Farmer Groups and Cooperatives and the Hungarian Government’s Commissioner for Artificial Intelligence have agreed on the necessary steps for this. Zsolt György Papp, President of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), István Jakab, Vice President of the Parliament, President of the Association of Hungarian Farmer Groups and Cooperatives (MAGOSZ), and László Palkovics, Government Commissioner for Artificial Intelligence, have agreed on the exploitation of the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence (AI).
Without precision systems, it is no longer possible to continue productive production in agriculture
In recent years, there has been significant modernization in the sector, precision tools are used by many farmers, but the rise of artificial intelligence can bring a breakthrough in the field of data-based farming. The use of AI-based systems is of fundamental importance in strengthening the competitiveness of Hungarian agriculture and increasing the sector’s resilience to external factors. That is why new technological solutions must be put into practice as soon as possible, with the broad involvement of farmers.
Zsolt Papp said: there are many data sources available in agriculture
However, these databases must be coordinated and it must be possible to use, for example, satellite images not only for monitoring related to subsidies, but also for crop estimation. István Jakab indicated that the National Chamber of Agriculture and MAGOSZ are committed to modern, Hungarian agricultural production. The NAK can play a decisive role in the transfer of new knowledge through its network of rural economist advisors covering the entire country. A professional knowledge base created through close cooperation with universities is also needed. László Palkovics assured the parties of the government’s support, emphasizing that the cabinet is also open to cooperation in the field of legislation.
