Tesco asks customers to weigh their food bins
Coupling up with Hubbabb, Tesco launches a 6 week trial project aimed to make British households reduce the food waste of 6.6 million tons they produce a year. Shoppers are asked to weigh their food bins and record their daily food waste. Based on the data, families receive useful advice on meal planning, food storage and cooking from leftovers, which may save them up to 60 pounds a month. The timing is not accidental: the lockdown brought about dramatic changes in the shopping and cooking habits of the British.
