Golden chains
According to the list of the 400 leading restaurant chains published by Restaurant & Institutions in 2008, McDonald’s is still number one with revenues of USD 63.6 billion, 31,377 units and growth of 10 percent. Runners up are: KFC (13.2billion), Burger King, Starbucks, Subway, Pizza Hut, Wendy’s, Taco Bell. McDonald’s revenues are slightly larger then the combined revenues of the next five chains. The combined turnover of the 400 chains are up by 5.4 percent this year, compared to 2007. Our table provides a review of different preferences in different parts of the world.
