Compared to last year, those entertainment and recreation venues that provided some kind of extra service had a better year: for example, a record number of sold-out concerts, such as Budapest Park, or closed parties, or beaches with slides – this was revealed at the press conference of RevoUnion and its partners on the closing of the summer season.

Although the summer was cooler than last year, it was still a more productive year than expected, and the consumer basket value also increased – this was the conclusion of the press conference of RevoUnion, known for its reusable solutions, where larger entertainment and recreation venues in Budapest and its surroundings evaluated the 2025 summer season. As Albert Péter, CEO of Budapest Park, said, although the season is not over yet – it lasts until October 4 – the results so far are encouraging: in addition to the 20 full-house program days, we also managed to strengthen the after-parties following the events. “With all this, we achieved a 5 percent increase this year compared to the same period last year, and we experienced that the basket value also increased” – he added.

According to Viktor Erdélyi, CEO of Gleccser Drinks Kft., which also operates the buffets in the Mogyoród Aquaréna, Hungarians were able to visit the slide park less often this year, but when they did go out, they spent more. Based on his experience, families went abroad or on longer vacations less in the summer, so a trip to the beach was worth it.

The manager of Zsiráf Pest also reported a similar situation, saying that while the city used to be deserted in August, this year he only remembers 1-2 nights when fewer people were sitting at their tables. According to Béla Rinyu, while last year their year was successful because of the joint watching of the European Championship matches, this year they closed well because of the closed, larger events and programs with foreign performers.

“And of course, the summery September, which gave us an extra month”

– he added.

The participants in the roundtable discussion agreed that in today’s hospitality industry, growth cannot be achieved with average service.

“Those of us here have always tried to provide some extra”

– Viktor Erdélyi explained that although the entire HORECA sector does not achieve outstanding results, they do. The extra can of course also be environmental awareness, which is important for today’s young generation. This was one of the reasons, among others, that the reusable system was introduced in the cafeterias of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics for both drinks and food.

“Our target audience, the young people, is very environmentally conscious”

– said the managing director of the University of Technology Students Ltd. According to Balázs Orbán, their users change every 3-4 years due to the higher education system, which they have to adapt to and continuously educate. The participants agreed that providing information about reusable systems is the joint responsibility of the catering units and RevoUnion.

RevoUnion supports its partners with various communication tools and also continuously monitors consumer feedback. “Today, many people pay with their phones instead of with the bank card stored in their wallets. Similarly, the token available in physical form can also be redeemed using the RevoToken application, which has been available for three years” – said CEO Róbert Maros, who highlighted that when the company was founded, their goal was to create an environmentally and economically sustainable reuse system that takes into account both partner and consumer aspects.

A Hungarian solution abroad

RevoUnion, known for its first reusable cups, now offers comprehensive solutions in the catering and commercial sectors. The expanded product portfolio includes the RevoCup reusable cup, RevoBox food packaging, Cupler hot drink cup and RevoGlass unbreakable glass cup, and the RevoBag shopping bag, which will operate in a common circular system with RevoCup and Cupler.

“The company’s goal is to create a cross-border open system, where RevoTokens redeemable for reusable products can be used seamlessly between countries and partners,” said Róbert Maros, CEO of RevoUnion. The international expansion is already tangible: RevoCups are present in Slovakia, Romania, the Netherlands and Italy. The first franchise partner started operating in Latvia, and this year a strategic cooperation was launched in Croatia.
