In April, inflation continued to slow down in the Czech Republic
Annual inflation in the Czech Republic dropped to 12.7 percent in April from 15.0 percent in March, the Czech Statistical Office reported on Thursday in Prague.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.2 percent, primarily the increase in food prices moderated.
Inflation in the Czech Republic has been decelerating for the third month. Annual inflation was now the lowest since last March: 12.7 percent in both months.
Inflation in April was significantly influenced by the development of food prices. In an annual comparison, the increase in the price of food decreased to 17 percent. On a monthly basis, a decrease was measured for the first time since last October, Pavla Sedivá, director of the statistical office, told journalists at a press conference.
According to his statement, the increase in the price of practically all basic food types moderated in April: the increase in the price of flour was 6.3 percent, after 32.6 percent in March, in the case of meat it was 12.7 percent, while in March the rate of price increase was 22.7 percent, in the case of eggs The price increase decreased from 75.5 percent to 41.2 percent.
