SopronFest starts on April 22
The SopronFest will start on April 22, the nine-day program series will host cultural, gastronomic and tourist events throughout the city – the organizers announced at a press conference in Sopron on Wednesday.
Norbert Lobenwein, one of the event’s founders, said that SopronFest represents a new color in the domestic festival offer, because it is not organized in summer and because they dreamed of a kind of “urban” festival.
He added that many local partners were found for the event, including the University of Sopron, which is preparing for the festival with a series of ten-day programs.
Attila Fábián, rector of the University of Sopron, said: it is important that the young people of Sopron, the university students, can have fun, get experiences and love the city. A good tool for this is the SopronFest, as part of which 33 programs are implemented.
One of the main locations of the programs will be the Botanic Garden, where guided tours on a different topic will be held in Hungarian and English every day. The SopronJÓLfest program will take place in the city center from April 21 to 30, as part of which, among other things, the works of the university’s artist teachers and students will be visible in the downtown windows.
