An American company is exporting rice to China
In July 2019, the Sun Valley Rice of California signed a contract with a Chinese importer, making them the first American company to sell rice to the Asian country – origo wrote.
“It is difficult to enter the Chinese market and for years it has been prohibited to sell American rice in the country,” – Betsy Ward, president of the USA Rice National Trade Association.
The Sun Valley Rice family business in Scaramento has been trying to break into the Chinese market for nearly 15 years. The LaGrande family has been growing rice since the 1920s, but Sun Valley Rice was founded in 2000 by Michael LaGrande and his son, Kevin. (origo)
