AM: punishment for food counterfeiters to be tightened
According to the amendment of the law of the Parliament, the punishment of food counterfeiters is stricter and they can no longer hide behind other companies after the fraud – the Ministry of Agriculture told MTI on Monday.
The tightening, accepted last Tuesday was necessary because food counterfeiting disrupts market conditions, puts decent entrepreneurs at a disadvantage and endangers consumer health. In order to protect the latter, it was essential to improve detection efficiency and to increase deterrence. (MTI)
