AM: Ministry of Agriculture and University of Debrecen sign strategic cooperation agreement
The Ministry of Agriculture (AM) and the University of Debrecen have signed a strategic cooperation agreement – the ministry told MTI on Thursday.

According to the information, at the signing of the partnership document, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy stated: “the strategic cooperation established between the Ministry of Agriculture and the University of Debrecen expresses our common goals, strengthening the competitiveness of Hungarian agriculture and developing the effectiveness of the domestic food industry”. At the event, the Minister drew attention to the fact that with the strategic partnership agreement signed on Thursday, agricultural higher education in Debrecen has reached another milestone – they wrote. The common interest of the Ministry of Agriculture and the University of Debrecen is long-term safe food production, which cannot be achieved without well-trained professionals, modern achievements and developments. The Minister explained that they are looking for answers with the help of science to make agriculture more resilient through innovation, developments, intensive and resource-efficient technologies. “That is why the partners are working together in areas that are decisive for our future, such as water management, adaptation to climate change or reducing the ecological footprint of agricultural and food production,” he added, according to the statement.
The Minister also mentioned that another important area of the partnership for the future is agricultural higher education and secondary agricultural vocational training
After all, the success of the generational change is the key to the future of Hungarian agriculture. Thanks to the renewal of vocational training and higher education, more and more young people are choosing the agricultural profession, which is also a great strength for the countryside, the statement says. István Nagy said that the strategic agreement also affects areas such as professional advice and knowledge management in the food chain and rural development; the practical utilization of agricultural R&D&I and scientific results; food industry and food trade, fish and game farming, the preservation of agro-cultural heritage, and the strengthening of the social acceptance of agriculture and the Hungarian countryside – the Ministry of Agriculture announced.
