AM: We see Transylvanian farmers as partners
We are living through challenging times, but the good news is that we are not alone, we can count on each other. And this cooperation is reflected in the fact that farmers, producers, village farmers, professional organizations and representatives of education and research are present as a community at the 5th Székelyföld Economic Organizations Coordination Forum – said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy on Thursday in Szováta.
The head of the ministry reminded that the common European agricultural policy and food supply are a strategic issue for the future of all of us. That is why the European Parliament elections in June are of crucial importance. Brussels has marginalized this issue. They don’t want to see that the purpose of agriculture is to ensure food supply. He added that, at the same time, European farmers see the importance of this, which was also indicated by farmers’ demonstrations in the recent period. The responsible policy is that we are responsible for the health of consumers, so healthy food cannot suffer from scarcity on the tables of European people. And our task is to put excellent food on the table, and this cannot be doubted or overridden by politics.
István Nagy highlighted another important event in the near future, that from July 1, Hungary will assume the presidency of the Union
This creates an opportunity to influence decision-making processes. In this matter, we consider Transylvanian farmers as partners. He emphasized that it is gratifying to see that this cooperation is embodied by the Székelyföld Coordinating Forum of Farmers’ Organizations, which connects the farmers’ organizations, farmers and agricultural experts of each region. The result of such cooperation is the extended, excellently functioning network of village farmers, which is one of the most useful and forward-looking measures in support of Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin, said István Nagy. The head of the ministry emphasized that our commitment to responsibility can be clearly seen in the field of agriculture, in which the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture considers it a priority task to help our compatriots who are forced beyond the borders to stay, prosper and prosper in their homeland. He added that one of the tools for this is to provide agricultural enterprises operating in Transylvania and the rest of the Carpathian Basin with opportunities to present themselves, their products and their services.
