AM: Hungary can be self-sufficient from eggs
Feldman Zsolt explained that 15-16 percent of the domestic egg demand is still covered by imports. So it makes sense to promote Hungarian goods despite the fact that the output of local producers has increased significantly in the last decade, he added. There are 550 farms in Hungary that produce eggs, so they serve as the livelihood of many thousands of people, so that consumers can now choose local goods on the basis of a clearly visible designation of origin. A shorter supply chain is in everyone’s interest, as it is safer and more sustainable, he stressed. (MTI)
