AM: 160 thousand tons of watermelons were produced this year
This year, 160 thousand tons of watermelons were produced, “only” ten thousand tons less than last year, while the production area decreased by twenty percent – the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture said in Győr.
Tarpataki Tamás, at the opening event of the Agricultural Marketing Centre’s melon consumption campaign, spoke at a press conference in front of the János Xantus Zoo that producers were uncertain about how much melon they would need in the spring due to the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the production area decreased from five thousand last year to four thousand hectares this year. (MTI)
