According to KSH data, the prices of agricultural produce were 18 per cent up in August 2007, compared to August 2006. The average price of plant produce showed an increase of 32.5 per cent, while that of animal livestock and products rose by only 3 per cent. Livestock prices dropped by 1.7 per cent with swine intended for slaughter becoming 10.7 per cent cheaper and the price of poultry rising by 18.1 per cent. The milk and egg prices rose by 11.6 per cent and 17.8 per cent respectively.
