NAV has cracked down on fraudsters with basic foodstuffs
A criminal organization involved in the sale of basic foodstuffs avoided its VAT obligation by using fictitious invoicing chains, which caused HUF 4.5 billion damage to the budget, the Central Hungarian Criminal Directorate of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) told MTI on Thursday.
They wrote: a criminal organization was raided at the same time in 60 locations across the country, whose members profited by selling basic foodstuffs – mainly cooking oil, sugar, coffee and cheese. They avoided the VAT payment obligation for products purchased from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia and Bulgaria and placed on the Hungarian market by building fictitious invoicing chains, which caused about HUF 4.5 billion in damage to the budget, they added.
