Feedback from consumers has been positive so far. We’ll soon have detailed data about the effects of the introduction of INBÉ labels, from two different sources. Conscious consumers appreciate RDA information, especially calorie values. Consumers can also obtain information about RDA labelling and a balanced diet from the www.mitiseszemiszom.hu web site. We are also communicating the advantages of RDA labelling in a POS campaign in the first half of 2008. In the summer of 2007, eight major FMG companies – Coca-Cola, Danone Kft., Kraft Foods, Kellogg’s, Mars, Nestlé, Pepsico and Unilever – launched an initiative to use voluntary RDA labelling based on the GDA system worked out by CIAA. This system has become successful in a number of EU countries, like the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany. By December 2007, 8,300 food products of 1,000 brands were using GDA labels in 27 EU countries. Users include Aldi, Cadburry, Campbell, Coca-Cola, COOP, Delhaise, Danone, Edka, Kellogg’s, Kraft Foods, Lidl, Mars, Metro, Nestlé, Orangina, Pepsico, Rewe, Tesco and Unilever). In Hungary, the TÉT platform is responsible for co-ordinating the activities of companies committed to promoting an active and balanced lifestyle and diet.
