Question:
The most notable scandal of the recent period was probably the Megatrade business. The responsibility of retailers in connection with the scandal, as well their preparedness to avoid such tricks was a constant issue. Retailers are not authorities, they have neither the means nor the power to fight criminals. Employees of stores and warehouses cannot realistically be expected to identify counterfeit products. In my opinion, market players should take joint action to come up with solutions which complement the measures used by authorities and can help to prevent such tricks.
My question to Attila Borodi, acting chairman of ÉFOSZ is: What ideas do you have regarding food safety to improve the co-operation between retail trade and the food industry?
