Different lands, different trends in swine
Global trends in the market of meat and poultry are monitored by the Agricultural Business Research Institute (AKI). Data from the Market and Price Information System of AKI and KSH can be useful form making even short term business decisions. According to their latest report, the price of milk dropped for the first time in March, since July 2007. It was down by 4 per cent compared to February. Different trends prevailed in different swine producing regions of the world in the beginning of 2008. Livestock prices were down by 10-12 per cent in the USA, while the opposite was true in China, the largest producer. In the EU countries, export refunds helped to stabilise prices. Both the price of livestock and processed swine rose in Hungary in the early months of 2008.
