They indicated: from Saturday the mostly sunny, dry, hot weather has returned, in the past 30 days only the western and northwestern parts of Transdanubia and the northwestern side of the Bükk have experienced precipitation exceeding 30 millimeters, but in the southern and eastern parts of the country, not even 10 millimeters fell in large areas, and in smaller spots nothing fell at all. In June, only half of the usual amount fell in the western Transdanubia areas, which are considered to be rainy at this time of year.

This June was rich in sunshine

The sun shone 20-25 percent more than the long-term average, but this was accompanied by frequent, very strong UV radiation. The top one-meter layer of soil is critically dry in most parts of the country, containing only 15-30 percent moisture in proportion to the amount of water usable by plants. The water deficit compared to saturation in the top one-meter layer exceeds 100 millimeters almost throughout the country, and more than 90 percent of the country’s territory is experiencing signs of severe or severe drought. The temperature was 1-5 degrees Celsius higher than usual at this time of year, with the air typically warming up to 30-35 degrees during the day, only in the northeast it was slightly warmer.

The autumn sowings suffered from the lack of precipitation in May and June, they ripened earlier than usual, and the harvest has begun

Corn, sunflower and soybean are being hit hard by the lack of precipitation, corn is already in the head-swelling phase in many places, and sunflowers are blooming, but the crops are in very poor condition, and there is an urgent need for a significant amount of precipitation.

According to the forecast, showers and thunderstorms are possible on Friday, mainly in the northern part of the country and on the western and southwestern border

Due to the cold front, the northwesterly wind will strengthen in many places, which may carry dust even more than usual to the harvest locations. From Sunday afternoon, there may be showers and thunderstorms in Transdanubia, and from Monday, the tendency for precipitation will also increase in the southern part of the country, and on Tuesday and then Wednesday, there may also be some rain in the Great Plain. The heat is slowly easing, although only temporarily on Saturday, then cooling will arrive in several waves from Monday, and from Tuesday the maximums will be below 30 degrees in most parts of the country, and the air will cool below 15 degrees in many places at night.
