They wrote that the temperature was above average in the second half of last week, with frost-free nights in a large area and maximums around 10 degrees Celsius, and then a few degrees cooler air arrived. During the clear nights, the nighttime cooling intensified, but frosts below minus 10 degrees did not occur, and during the day the temperature rose to around plus 5 degrees due to a lot of sunshine. The ground has only a few centimeters of frost on the surface.
The amount of precipitation for the previous ten days typically remains below 5 millimeters
The amount of precipitation in January was around the average, 10-20 millimeters more fell in the west and north, while 5-10 millimeters less in the central part of the country. The 90-day precipitation amount exceeds the usual value by 50-130 millimeters.
Mainly in the Great Plain, there are inland water spots, the extent of which decreases only very slowly
Autumn crops where there is no permanent inland water are in relatively good condition. Although the pathogens and pests have been decimated by the frosty weather that has been typical since the second week of January, at least at night, a more persistent cold would be needed to significantly reduce them.
According to the forecast, the weather will be much milder than usual
The incoming weather fronts will only bring a little precipitation, but the temperature will rise significantly, maximums of around 10 degrees Celsius are expected from Sunday and the night frosts will disappear. From Saturday and Sunday, the wind will pick up, so the soil will continue to erode very slowly.
