Agrometeorology: autumn sowing would benefit from rain
Precipitation would be good for autumn sowing, because February was quite dry in a large area, the National Meteorological Service wrote in its weekly agrometeorological analysis.
In the analysis published on the website of the meteorological service on Thursday, it wrote that in the past seven days, the weather fronts passing over the country brought precipitation, mostly light rain, in the southern part of the country, however, a significant amount fell. However, the amount of precipitation for the past 30 days does not even reach 5 millimeters in some places, so it is below the long-term average across the country. The upper layer of the soil continued to dry in the greater part of the country, only in the area of the southern and eastern border is the top of the soil wet. However, the deeper layers are saturated almost throughout the country due to previous rains.
Due to heavy rainfall in the Körösök and Maros watersheds in recent days, a tidal wave is descending on these rivers
Thus, although the territorial extent of the previously affected by inland water, mainly lowland fields, decreased significantly, the area along the lower reaches of the Körös, Maros and Tisza rivers increased again in the area of inland water. The soil temperature measured at 5 centimeters is currently around 5 degrees Celsius.
According to the analysis, autumn crops are typically in good condition
However, with the exception of the southern and southwestern areas of the country, they would expect a heavier rain. In the mild weather, the vegetation began to develop in the middle of the month, the flowering of cattails has already begun in the northeastern part of the country, and the flower buds of apricots, peaches and pears have also popped in the Miskolc area. In the south and southwest, these processes are even more advanced, and the almond blossom has also begun. The cooler weather of the past few days, weak frosts at night, and little snow in the south restrained the too early development of plants.
According to the analysis, changeable, early spring weather should be expected in the continuation
In the beginning, mild weather is expected, then colder from Sunday and cold and wet air waves will arrive from Monday. The weekend promises to be mostly dry, and from Monday several waves of precipitation, rain and snow are expected, a total of 5-10 millimeters of precipitation may fall until the middle of next week, but more may fall in the southwest. The temperature will start to drop from Sunday, next week the minimums will be around 0 degrees and the maximums will be around 5 degrees.
