Agrometeorology: the size of inland water areas has barely decreased and rainy weather is expected again
In the rain-free weather of the past few days, the size of the inland areas has barely decreased, and rain and snow may arrive again in several waves by Sunday, the National Meteorological Service wrote in its agrometeorological analysis on Thursday.
According to the analysis, the rain-free weather of the past few days gave some time for the tidal waves formed due to the previous rains to recede and for the water to seep into and out of the soil, but the evaporation is very small in this case, so the size of the inland water area hardly decreased. The amount of precipitation in the last 30 days exceeds 100 millimeters in a large area, and the amount for 90 days exceeds 200 millimeters, both of which are significantly more than the average for many years throughout the country. The accumulated precipitation since the beginning of September currently exceeds the optimal value by 50-100 millimeters in the Great Plain, and in places in Transdanubia and the northern part of the country by 150-160 millimeters.
The heavy rain has already stopped on the fields in a large area
Stocks do not like permanent water coverage, especially at average temperatures above plus 4-5 degrees Celsius. The upper one-meter layer of the soil is already filled with moisture, and the water reaches even deeper layers, which means a favorable outlook for the next year. The temperature was slightly above average, only weak frosts occurred at night, and no significant frost has yet formed in the ground this winter. During the day this week, by midday, the air warmed up to close to 10 degrees Celsius in the sunny parts, while the peak value was only close to 0 degrees in overcast, foggy landscapes.
In the continuation, the weather will be changeable again, rain will arrive in several waves until Sunday, snow may also fall in many places on Saturday
Overall, more than 10 millimeters of rain may fall in a large area, and more than 20-30 millimeters may fall in the northwest. It will be a little colder on Saturday due to the cloudy, rainy weather, and then it will warm up from Sunday with maximums around 10 degrees. Fairly windy weather is expected until Monday, but from Tuesday the tendency to fog will increase again. They added: the winter solstice will be on Friday, the afternoons are still very slow for the time being, but they are already getting longer, but the sun rises even later in the morning until the beginning of January.
