Agrometeorology: the soil is sufficiently moist for autumn sowing
The soil is sufficiently moist for autumn sowing, and from the end of the week, in more or less sunny weather, it will be possible to make good progress with autumn agricultural work, HungaroMet Zrt. wrote in its agrometeorological analysis on Thursday.

In the past week, rain came in several waves, the amount of precipitation in the last ten days was typically between 30 and 60 millimeters, but only in the southeast it remained between 15 and 30 millimeters. The 30-day rainfall is several times the long-term average, mostly 100-150 millimeters, 80-100 millimeters in the southeast.
The deficit in July and August has now mostly been made up
The upper 50 centimeter soil layer has become saturated almost all over the country, and more and more moisture is reaching the deeper layer, although there is still a significant lack of moisture in the Great Plain.
According to the analysis, the often rainy weather and the persistently muddy soil hamper the remaining harvesting work, the sowing of autumn wheat, and the autumn tillage
However, moist soil is very favorable for the seeds that have already gone into the ground: the autumn cabbage rape can develop nicely, and the autumn barley has already been sorted out in many places. The seeds of winter wheat will also be in ideal conditions during the current sowing, if the soil is dry enough to go over it with the machines.
According to the forecast, it will be rainy on Friday, then drier, with a temperature roughly in line with the average
The temperature will drop significantly compared to Thursday’s peak values of around 25 degrees Celsius, and from Friday the maximums will only be between 15-20 degrees. From Sunday, ground frosts may occur in clear, frosty places, but below zero degrees is unlikely at a height of two meters.
