Agrometeorology: the rain was good for sunflowers and corn, but not for wheat and canola waiting to be harvested
The rainy weather of the past week was good for sunflowers and corn, but not for wheat and canola, which are still waiting to be harvested, HungaroMet Zrt wrote in its agrometeorological analysis on Thursday.
According to the analysis, precipitation has fallen across the country in the last five days, but its amount varies between 1 and 121 millimeters. In the past 30 days, 10-30 millimeters less than usual fell in the southern and eastern regions of the Great Plain, as well as east and southeast of Budapest, while 20-80 millimeters more fell in a significant part of Transdanubia and in the northeast.
The drought that developed in many places in the Great Plain has been significantly reduced in most places
The overall temperature was 3-4 degrees Celsius higher than usual: last Friday, during the day, values above 30 degrees were measured throughout the country, and above 35 degrees in the southern part of the Great Plain, then the heat decreased, and the average daily temperature in the first half of the week was already 20-25 formed between degrees.
Planted plants develop two to three weeks earlier than usual
The autumn sowings have already finished and the harvest is underway, but the heavy rainfall that fell during the ripening period did not benefit the crop, the fields of corn fell in the areas affected by the downpours and fungal diseases also caused problems in the often wet stands, the muddy, sometimes waterlogged fields they also hinder the harvest. Sunflowers and corn are blooming in more and more places, they now require the most moisture, 100 millimeters per month would be ideal.
According to the forecast, at first there may be showers and thunderstorms in many places, which may be accompanied by downpours and hail, but at the end of the week the tendency for precipitation will decrease and the heat will increase, and then at the beginning of next week the heat will decrease and maximums of 25-30 degrees are expected.
