Ministry of Agriculture: the government is supporting the viticulture and winemaking sector with new opportunities

Imre Hubai explained that the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan will have almost 28 million euros available this year, and a total of nearly 112 million euros for the 2024-2027 period. He highlighted that innovative winemaking investment support will be launched, which will enable the introduction of new technologies and processes. Thus, the sector’s players can reach new markets and consumers, as this support provides opportunities to expand the range of alcohol-free and alcohol-reduced wine products. The government will continue to provide significant assistance for the renewal of vineyards, the modernization of the support system for old plantations, and the promotion of production sites, the statement said.

Support for the restructuring and conversion of vineyards can be applied for until August 15, and investment support can be applied for between November 15 and December 15. According to Imre Hubai, it is our common interest that our historic wine regions shine in their old glory again and give us quality wines that provide a livelihood for farmers and pride for all Hungarians. The Tokaj wine region, which covers approximately 5,000 hectares, continues to play a decisive role in Hungary’s viticulture and winemaking culture. Active grape replanting activities contribute to the long-term preservation of crop security, quality and competitiveness. He called the appearance of young plantations an encouraging sign for the future of the wine region. Last year, 246 hectares of newly planted plantations were registered, which, according to him, shows the long-term commitment of producers to the development of the wine region – the ministry announced.
