In the video post, the Minister drew attention to the fact that generational change is the key to the competitiveness of Hungarian agriculture. The call for proposals, entitled “Generational renewal with support from farm transferors”, implemented within the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy and co-financed by the European Union, is another element of the system of tools to support the generational renewal of Hungarian agriculture.

The minister highlighted: the aim of the call for applications is to ensure that the operation of the farm involved in the farm transfer, and thus production, continues uninterrupted

The call for applications supports the takeover of the farm, including the related support entitlements and obligations, and the implementation of activities related to the transfer and relocation of the farm. During the application period starting on November 20, 2025, farm transferees can apply for support of between HUF 4 and 20 million, depending on the size or revenue of the agricultural holding. István Nagy added that supporting the takeover of the farm creates the opportunity for agricultural enterprises to continue to survive and develop. This means that the generational change can take place during the founder’s lifetime, under orderly circumstances. According to the call, the transferee of a farm who has an approved farm transfer contract in accordance with the Act on the Transfer of Agricultural Farms, is at least 18 and no more than 50 years old at the time of concluding the contract, and has a specialized education, may receive support. The Minister of Agriculture also mentioned that the farm to be taken over under the farm transfer contract must have a farm size of at least 10 thousand euros in standard production value, or, if the transferee of the farm is listed in the small producer register, must have a sales revenue of at least 10 thousand euros. If the transferee of the farm is listed in the small producer register, he can choose to have this eligibility condition verified based on farm size or sales revenue.

The call for applications published now is closely related to the call for applications titled “Support for Farm Transfer Cooperation” announced on July 24.

The possibility of submitting applications for this call has already begun. The two calls for proposals complement each other and together represent an extremely important milestone in promoting the generational renewal of agriculture.
