The outlook for tourism is favorable, according to the Association of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants (MSZÉSZ), but sustained growth competitiveness should be improved, among others there is a need for significant VAT reduction on rooms.
According to the latest analysis of the association on the trends of the period between 2000 and 2015, in 2015, tourism contributed to the GDP by 9.4 percent, while the number of direct employees was 338 thousand last year. The sector’s foreign currency revenues amounted to 4.81 billion euros, which is a 8.9 percent growth, compared to 2014. (MTI)
