Adventures in beer gastronomy
As part of the Beer Gastronomy Week’s programme, guests could enjoy special menus matching food with beer in 14 restaurants of Budapest and other cities, between 9 and 15 October. With this programme the objective of the Association of Hungarian Brewers is to improve Hungary’s beer culture and popularise the related culinary joys – told Attila Schillinger, director of the association. In 2017 the association also organised a contest to find Hungary’s best beer snacks – both Horeca professionals and amateur beer lovers entered the competition with their creations.
Once a month Dreher Breweries are waiting for those who like special flavours and experiences with a beer dinner. Zsolt Lenk, the executive chef of Marangona Gasztropont will be cooking at these events, compiling the menus together with beer gastronomer István Vásárhelyi. At the Dreher Beer Dinners guests will also have the chance to have an insight into beer production, and to visit the beautiful brewing house and the Dreher museum.
In connection with the Hungarian Museum of Trade and Tourism’s current beer-themed exhibition, the museum organises a ‘beer salon’ event every month, where guests can taste beers made by Hungarian craft breweries. As for the exhibition, visitors can learn many interesting things about Hungary’s brewing history – from the Middle Ages up to the present day. //
