The Hungarian Maltese Charity Service and SPAR Hungary are announcing their joint school supplies collection campaign for the fifth time. The Joy of Giving campaign, which will take place from August 21 to 24, 2025, aims to help families in difficult situations during the start of the school year in September, whether it is a direct donation of goods or a monetary donation in the form of donation cards.

“A peaceful start to school is a basic experience that every child deserves. As a responsible company, our task is to provide assistance to those for whom this is not a given. We have been working with the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service on this important cause for the fifth year, and we are touched again and again by how selflessly our customers join this campaign. We are counting on them all over the country this year as well,”

said Márk Maczelka, Head of Communications at SPAR Hungary.

Tamás Romhányi, Head of Communications at the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service, highlighted:

“The poorest families often cannot afford even the most basic school supplies, so children start at a disadvantage on the first day of school. The essence of our joint school supplies collection campaign with SPAR Hungary is that these children can start the school year in a dignified manner, fully equipped. The new school supplies offered are not only tools for learning, but also symbols of attention, care and opportunity.”

The personal collection phase of the campaign will take place between August 21 and 24, 2025. During these four days, volunteers from the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service will be present in all INTERSPAR stores in the country and are waiting for customers who would like to purchase and offer a school supply or a product related to the start of school as a donation to children in need. Donations can be handed over to volunteers directly after the checkout zone. The Hungarian Maltese Charity Service’s national network is involved in delivering the donations: the packages are delivered to the right place in a targeted manner.

Another form of donation is the purchase of donation cards. These cards, worth 500, 1,500, 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 forints, are available in INTERSPAR stores between 1 and 31 August 2025. The entire amount raised from their purchase will be used by the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service to purchase new school supplies and will be distributed to children in need.

The donations received during the collection – whether in-kind donations or school supplies purchased with donation cards – will be delivered to those in need by the Charity Service staff at the start of the school year in September. The school supplies will be delivered in carefully prepared packages, taking into account the needs of the local communities and the age of the children.

Details of the collection and contact details of the participating INTERSPAR stores can be found on the website www.adniorom.hu.
