The joint school supply donation campaign of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta and SPAR Hungary, “Adni Öröm!” (“Giving is Joy!”), has successfully concluded once again, with countless generous shoppers joining the nationwide initiative this year.

During the in-store collection held between 21–24 August 2025 at INTERSPAR hypermarkets, nearly 100,000 school supplies and learning tools were collected. In addition, through the purchase of donation cards available since 1 August, supportive customers contributed more than 1.8 million forints. SPAR Hungary further added 1 million forints to this result, which the Charity Service will also use to purchase school supplies.

The donations reached their destination very quickly: by early September, carefully assembled packages will be delivered through the nationwide network of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta to 1,800 disadvantaged children, ensuring they can start the school year fully equipped.

“For the poorest families, even purchasing the most basic school supplies is often a heavy burden. With the Adni Öröm! campaign, we are not simply giving notebooks, pencils, or schoolbags: we are giving children a chance not to start at a disadvantage on their very first day of school. The support of volunteers, customers, and SPAR has once again provided real help for thousands of children this year.”

– emphasized Tamás Romhányi, Head of Communications at the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta.

“The joy and security of starting school is a right for every child. It is moving to see how generously our customers stand by us year after year when together we can support families in difficult situations. We are proud that, together with the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta, we can contribute to the September school start every year,” said Márk Maczelka, Head of Communications at SPAR Hungary.
