The WTO considers the Russian ban on pork illegal
The world trade organization (WTO) declared illegal the Russian ban on import of live pigs, fresh pork and other pig products from the EU.
This was reported on the website of the European Commission.
“This event is not based on relevant international standards and violates the rules of the WTO Agreement on the application of sanitary and phytosanitary actions. A separate Russian ban on imports from Poland, Lithuania and Estonia have received the same criticism from the panel,” – said in a statement.
As noted, we are talking about the ban imposed by Russia in early 2014 due to several cases of African swine fever (ASF) in the EU territory close to the border with Belarus. (tozsdeforum.hu, MTI)
