Wolt’s annual summary: Hungarians order cheeseburgers at home
Over the past year, Wolt, one of Hungary’s leading food ordering platforms, has provided a number of interesting statistics on user habits and annual food trends. The data revealed that the cheeseburger is still the favorite of Hungarians, but other mouth-watering dishes are also among the leaders of the list.
In addition to the cheeseburger, pizza, pasta, Hungarian cuisine and kebab were the most popular food categories in 2023. In a single year, the number of cheeseburgers ordered reached nearly half a million pieces. It is particularly interesting that while in other cities people voted for cheeseburgers at lunchtime, in Debrecen tortillas and gyros were the favorites.
Wolt has also seen some extremely dedicated users throughout the year, including those who placed 1,257 orders over the course of the year and those who racked up 25 orders in a single day.
When ordering food, Hungarians most often ordered milk, baked goods, chicken breast fillets, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Bananas, cucumbers, tomatoes, lemons, red onions, spring onions and carrots were the most popular vegetables and fruits.
