The world’s first automatic restaurant – Video of the day
Mezli, which opened last year in San Francisco, calls itself the world’s first fully automatic restaurant, which was built by engineers from Stanford University, and which – unlike commonly known restaurant robots – can do everything without (major) human intervention.
The chef of Mezli, Eric Minnich, created the menu consisting of healthy, Mediterranean dishes, his team prepares and partially cooks the ingredients every day and places them at the kitchen station before opening. The customer walks up to the touch screen, orders and pays, then the system heats up the chilled ingredients, adds the sauces, toppings and side dishes, and then places the order in a smart cabinet – from where the customer can take it out.
