Retail sales in the euro area grew less than expected in January on a monthly and annual basis
In the euro area, retail sales rose less than analysts expected in January on a monthly and annual basis.

Euro area retail did not start the year well
The European Union’s statistical office, Eurostat, said on Friday that retail sales rose 0.2 percent month-on-month in January, after falling 2.7 percent in December. Experts expected a significantly larger increase in sales of 1.5 percent per month in January. (MTI)
