Crisis the main topic at Day of Commerce
Although results should have been the main topic at this year’s European Day of Commerce organised by trade associations and organisations, this intention has been overruled by the financial crisis. According to Gordon Bajnai, minister of economy and development, it is not possible to avoid negative effects altogether but the impact of these can be reduced. Gábor Simon, under secretary of the ministry of labour and social affairs, spoke about the importance of protecting consumers, outlining new legislation passed in October. Sándor Demján, acting chairman of VOSZ emphasised that protecting jobs should be the first priority. Dr. László Parragh, chairman of MKIK said that maintaining the liquidity of SME-s is the best tool for reducing the impact of the crisis. The Klauzál Gábor Awards, Ministerial Awards and the “For Hungarian Commerce Grand Prize” were also handed over during the event.
