The producer price of slaughter cows decreased the most
According to AKI’s slaughter statistics data, the slaughter of cattle in January-November 2023, expressed in live weight, decreased by almost 10 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
The slaughter of cows, which account for more than two-thirds of all slaughters, was 10 percent less, that of bulls was 12 percent less, and that of heifers increased by 5 percent in the same comparison.
Based on data from the KSH, Hungary’s live cattle exports in January-October 2023 were 14 percent below the same period in 2022
The main partners were Croatia, Austria, Kosovo, Turkey and Italy. Hungary’s live cattle imports increased by 29 percent. More than half of the live cattle came from Denmark, Austria and Germany. The volume of beef exports decreased by 17 percent and the value by 19 percent.

According to the AKI PÁIR data, the producer price of young bulls was HUF 758/kilogram of split hot weight in November 2023, a decrease of 3 percent compared to the average price of the same month in 2022. The price of the slaughter heifer decreased by 6 percent and the price of the slaughter cow by 24 percent during the period under review. According to KSH data, the consumer price of beef steak was 9 percent higher (HUF 4,570/kilogram) in December 2023 than a year earlier.
