UPS and Waymo test a self-driving luggage car
UPS and Waymo, a company specializing in the manufacture of self-driving technologies, has announced that it is launching a unique project of its kind to test a vehicle capable of autonomous operation of parcel delivery in Phoenix.
In the coming weeks, as part of the collaboration, Waymo Chrysler Pacifica vans will ship packages between local UPS Store stores and the UPS sorting facility.
UPS and Waymo are testing how self-driving cars can improve customer service and delivery network efficiency while developing long-term collaboration opportunities. During the Arizona pilot project, the autonomously operating vehicle will be overseen by Waymo’s trained driver.
