NAK launches campaign on conscious meat consumption from Remény farm
The National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) launched its awareness-raising campaign “Facts in a Tasteful Way” in June this year. The aim of the initiative is to present the importance of animal products in an open and authentic way and to refute misconceptions about them. The campaign focuses on the role of meat, dairy products and eggs in a healthy diet, as well as sustainable practices of responsible animal husbandry, while highlighting the social and economic significance of agriculture. As part of this campaign, an organized visit took place at the beginning of September at the Remény Farm in Heves County, where the hosts Anna and Dávid presented the farm, and the participating journalists baked their own ingredients together with them.
– In recent years, many misconceptions, half-information and extreme opinions have surfaced regarding animal husbandry, meat consumption and the role of dairy products. These not only confuse consumers, but also discredit the work of those working in agriculture, undeservedly – emphasized Katalin Süle, NAK’s vice president for general agricultural affairs, at the event. That is why we decided to present the facts. In recent months, we have received a lot of confirmation that we are on the right track. The various educational video materials have been viewed over 2 million times, and hundreds of thousands of people have clicked on our social media and websites. It is already clear that the feedback from many people has been a real eye-opener for the campaign. We have received many messages that reflect that we have initiated real change.”
The face of the campaign is Zoltán Szécsi, a three-time Olympic water polo champion, who also shares his own sports and family experiences with the audience. As he put it: “It is important that consumers form their opinions based on scientific facts, and not that misleading beliefs spread on social media determine their relationship with food. Our goal is to show – as has now happened at Remény Farm – that domestic animal husbandry is becoming more and more modern and sustainable. That real people and farmers stand behind domestic meat, dairy products and eggs: with expertise, responsibility and honesty.”
The campaign will run for five months, from June to November, and places particular emphasis on education. The educational content includes video series, reports, expert interviews and articles, which help the audience navigate issues related to nutrition, animal husbandry and meat consumption with professionally based information. The initiative pays special attention to presenting the real operation of the domestic livestock and meat industry. During the campaign, the audience can gain insight into the everyday life of sustainable farming, the world of modern livestock technologies and the controlled, high-quality processes of meat processing. The reports also demonstrate the serious expertise, commitment and honesty with which responsible livestock keepers and processors carry out their work every day to ensure that safe, high-quality food is put on the tables of Hungarian families.
