The number of visitors to Turkey increased by 13.9 percent in the first half of the year
In the first six months of this year, the number of visitors to Turkey increased by 13.9 percent to 26.1 million compared to a year earlier, the Turkish Tourism and Development Agency (TGA) told MTI.
In the statement, referring to Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, it was reported that the country’s tourism revenues increased by 9.3 percent to 23.7 billion dollars.
According to the minister, the results of the first half of the year confirmed that Turkey’s goals for this year, 60 million visitors and 60 billion dollars in revenue, are achievable this year.
According to their information, more than 2.7 million Russians and more than 2.5 million Germans chose Turkey as their holiday destination, which is an increase of 3 and 9 percent, respectively, compared to the first half of 2023. In the same period, 1.8 million Britons visited Turkey, 19 percent more than a year earlier.
They pointed out that the number of Chinese tourists showed the biggest increase (111 percent) on an annual basis, exceeding 187 thousand.
MTI was informed that the number of Hungarian tourists visiting Turkey, after 51,167 and 68,918 in the first six months of 2022 and 2023, has already exceeded 86,000 between January and June this year.
