The price of eggs at the packing point is 34 percent higher than last year
Based on data from the European Commission, the packing point price of table eggs in the EU was 234.93 euros/100 kilograms in the first forty-six weeks of 2023, exceeding the price of the same period of the previous year by 27.6 percent.
According to the data of AKI PÁIR, the packing point price of table eggs (M+L) from cage keeping in Hungary was HUF 57.98/piece in the first forty-six weeks of 2023, which was 34.1 percent higher than the average price for the same period of 2022. Within this, the packing point price of boxed eggs of size class M increased by 31.3 percent to HUF 59.59/piece, and of boxed eggs of size class L by 41.2 percent to HUF 70.62/piece. At the same time, the packing point price of M tray eggs rose by 35.6 percent to HUF 53.52/piece, and that of L tray eggs by 33.7 percent to HUF 58.88/piece. The packing point price of deep-laid table eggs (M+L) was HUF 64.82/piece in the first forty-six weeks of 2023, which was 37.8 percent higher than the average price for the same period of 2022.
