The Cooperatives loses thousands of euros
The European Court of Justice rejected the Hungarian action in a six-year lawsuit, which intended to force Brussels to pay more support refunds to the Hungarian fruit and vegetable sector’s producer organizations. It is known that Hungary requested an almost two million euros support from the European Commission, but only wanted to pay 1.2 million euros.
The Court considered that the concept of the so-called subsidy necessarily includes the amount of approved national financial assistance previously reported to the Committee. Thus, the Committee had the appropriate legal basis to allow the EU to fulfill the refund based on the amount of national financial assistance. (by our colleague)
