Tesco would buy Carrefour's 61 business in Asia
Tesco can increase its impact on the Asian markets, if the company will acquire the Carrefour supermarket chain’s stores in the region. The British giant will have to contend with more than ten competitors – the price can reach one billion dollars.
According to The Financial Times, beside Tesco, more than 10 companies participating in the tender, including Japan's second largest commercial network, the Aeon, also Singapore and Thailand based supermarket chains, the French Casino, and other companies outside Asia as well. According to press reports, the world's largest supermarket chain, Wal Mart is not among the applicants – reports mfor.hu.
